What is it: A wireless Sumo Wrestling Robot that allowed other competing robots to drive up on top of it, and then flipped them over.
My Role: Worked on a team of two to design and build two iterations of the sumo bot. The first was made of Foam Core and used bluetooth to wirelessly control the NXT based robot using LabView. The second (pictured above) was made of welded steel and used an Arduino and ArduMoto with an external H Bridge to control the flipper mechanism and was wirelessly controlled through an XBee. While the actual fighting bot was controlled using the keyboard arrow keys, we made a version controlled by a red ball and a webcam using LabVIEW image processing as well which was harder to control precisely, but more fun to play with.
